Course Description

This training provides individuals with the essential skills and tools necessary to facilitate partner abuse intervention groups, review the Illinois Partner Abuse Intervention Protocol, and learn best practices for group co-facilitation.

Objectives

  • Understand PAIP, including its history, Illinois Administrative Code, key issues, confidentiality, and the role of the facilitator.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of working with domestic violence offenders.
  • Learn and practice basic group facilitation skills.

Instructors:

Josie Carollo, MA, LCPC, CPAIP
Josie holds a Master’s degree in Community Counseling and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Partner Abuse Intervention Professional. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and person-centered therapy, and specializes in working with adolescents and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, domestic violence, and anger management.

Ana Mejia, MA, CPAIP
Ana specializes in anxiety, depression, domestic violence, and parenting. She works with individuals of all races, genders, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds, from ages 13 through 55, to reach their mental health goals through individual, couples, and family therapy. With a Master’s degree in Art Therapy, Ana utilizes a client-centered approach in combination with Adlerian Principles of Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
