Play Therapy with the Brain in Mind

— Strategies from a Synergetic Play Therapy Lens —

September 11, 2020 1 p.m. – 4p.m.

Working with children is both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. If you have felt stuck, unsure, or confused on how to conceptualize a child’s presentation in the playroom, you are not alone. This 3-hour seminar will offer a lens in which participants can view their child client’s behaviors, provide support and effective interventions, and ultimately capture the wisdom of their authentic self. An offering of practical applications, hands-on experientials, personal introspection, and concrete interventions will be provided.

Learning Objectives:
• Explore child symptomology through a nervous system perspective and investigate
strategies for assisting children when they are emotionally flooded.
• Identify four threats to the brain and how to establish a neuroception of safety for children.
• Examine the ways in which children offer us information by setting us up to experience what they experience
