Exposure Therapy 101:

— Strategies for Facing Anxiety Disorders Head On —

March 13, 2020 1p.m. – 4p.m.

This introductory workshop is designed to teach participants the basics of applying research proven, exposure-based therapeutic strategies for Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Phobias, and OCD. Participants will learn the framework of Exposure and Response Prevention and why other treatment approaches such as coping skills and relaxation not only often don’t work but might actually increase or maintain anxiety. Factors, such as family and school accommodation that contribute to the maintenance of anxiety will also be discussed. A general treatment outline using case examples will be provided to highlight the main areas of interventions incorporated during treatment. Presenters will also provide creative examples of exposure-based interventions.
