We are proud to share that Victoria Rodriguez-Del Rio, MA, LMFT, Therapist and AAMFT Supervisor Candidate at Family Counseling Service, was recently featured in Authority Magazine as part of their ongoing series on Marriage and Family Therapists and the keys to happy, lasting marriages. The series highlights experienced clinicians who guide couples through challenges and help build fulfilling, long-term partnerships.
In the interview, Victoria reflects on what drew her to the field, her belief that healing happens not just individually but in connection with others, and what it truly takes to keep love alive after many years together. She speaks candidly about the misconceptions couples carry into relationships, how trust is built and rebuilt over time, and what healthy conflict resolution actually looks like in practice.
She also shares five skills she has found meaningful in her own marriage and brings into her work with couples, along with practical communication techniques and her vision for a broader cultural shift she calls a “Return to Connection” movement.

The Interview
The following is an excerpt from Victoria’s full interview with Authority Magazine.
Can you tell us a story about what inspired you to become a therapist?
Becoming a therapist felt less like choosing a career and more like stepping into something I genuinely felt called to do, creating a space where people can heal, grow, and strengthen the relationships that matter most to them. Seeing how much people carry silently within their relationships and families, I realized early on that behind anger, conflict, or distance, there’s often pain, unmet needs, or a desire to feel understood. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea that healing doesn’t just happen individually; it also happens in connection with others.
