In our own lives, each of us was touched by someone-other than our parents-who introduced us to new worlds and brought a little magic into our lives. By becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister, you can do the same for a child. And you will both be forever changed by the experience.
Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteers are people from the community – adults who are business owners and employees, homemakers and retirees, high school and college students, who want to be a good role model for young children.

How to Volunteer
The process is simple. If you are interested in volunteering…
- Call us at (630) 844-9090 or contact us. You will talk with the Customer Relations Specialist who will ask someo basic information and make an appointment for you to come meet with our professional staff memeber of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
- You’ll complete an application and provide references, so bring the phone numbers of three people who have known you for at least 3 years. Bring in your driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
- The enrollment includes a few steps to get to know you and your interests which help us match your preferences for volunteering.
- Once a match is made, our professional case managers are available to provide you with training and support you may need during your Big Brothers Big Sisters experience.
- You will be asked to visit your Little Brother or Little Sister on a consistent, regular basis either for a year, or in the case of school-based mentoring, a school year.
